Kelly Lewis

My specialised qualifications ensure I can confidently support a wide range of needs, including:

  • Pilates for older adults and common orthopaedic conditions (on medical advice)
  • Pilates for women's health and menopause
  • Pilates for sport, and sport rehabilitation

For me, wellness is a big picture. I also host relaxing mini-retreats, and in the summer, I love shaking things up by teaching Pilates on a paddleboard out on a local lake!

Outside the studio, my heart truly belongs to the outdoors. I’m a huge fan of mountains (yes, I climbed Kilimanjaro!), trail running, Hyrox, wild swimming, and long dog walks—always making time to enjoy nature with my family.

Ultimately, I simply love working with people. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone feel stronger, more mobile, and more at home in their body. I look forward to supporting you on your health and wellness journey.

FAQs

Here are answers to common questions about Pilates and the things to expect when you attend my studio or classes.

New to Pilates?

You don't need any experience to start. If you want to try the studio equipment, book a Reformer Intro class at Manor Farm.

If you prefer a group setting, the Beginner Mat class at Oakhill Village Hall is the best place to learn the basics.

Everyone's very friendly, welcoming and I'm considerate not everyone learns at the same pace. You're in safe hands!

Do I need to be flexible?

Not at all. You come to Pilates to get flexible and strong, so you don't need to be either of those things to join in.

Everyone works to their own ability in my classes.

How do I book?

I use GymCatch which makes booking and paying really simple but please follow me on GymCatch to see the actual class availability. There maybe some forms (one-time for newcomers) for compliance (sorry!). You can find, book and pay using the app on iOS, Android or via the web:

GET the app: Click here to download and search for 'Pilates by Kelly'.

FIND my classes: Go to my GymCatch page, find and follow me

Need more HELP? Read this how-to guide.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in, like leggings and a t-shirt. You don't need trainers as we work in socks or bare feet. For Reformer classes grip socks are essential for safety, so please pop a pair in your bag.

How much are classes?

All prices are listed clearly on the GymCatch app. I offer single class passes if you want to pay as you go, or blocks of classes which offer a bit of a discount. There are no hidden joining fees.

What if I have a bad back or I’m injured?

Pilates is great for back care, but please check with your GP or physio before booking if you have a specific injury or condition. Let me know beforehand so I can give you modifications to keep you safe during the exercises.

Where are you based?

I have two locations in Somerset. My Mat classes are held at Ashwick & Oakhill Village Hall, and my Reformer studio is at Manor Farm in Chilcompton. Both have plenty of free parking right outside.

Mat vs Reformer

Mat Pilates is done on a floor mat using your own body weight and small props. Reformer Pilates uses a specialist machine with springs to add resistance. Both are excellent, it just depends if you prefer a larger group class (Mat) or a more focused studio session (Reformer).

Do you instruct men (including classes)?

Yes absolutely. I run a Men Only Reformer class at the studio if you prefer an all-male environment, but men are very welcome in all my mixed Mat and Reformer sessions too.

Do you do private sessions?

Yes I do. You can book 1:1 or 1:2 sessions (excellent for couples) at the Chilcompton studio. These are great if you are recovering from an injury, want to work on specific goals, or just want a bit of quiet confidence building before joining a group.

Can I do Pilates while pregnant?

It is often possible but safety is the priority. Please contact me directly before booking anything so we can discuss your stage of pregnancy and ensure the class is right for you.

What is ‘Lights Down Pilates’?

It is exactly what it sounds like. A Reformer class with the lights dimmed and softer music. It is a chance to de-stress and move your body without it being a high-intensity workout.

Do you offer refunds, or what if I need to cancel?

I do not offer refunds once booked. 24 hours notice to cancel and re schedule a booking is acceptable but any cancellations within 24 hours aren't carried over. Please contact me direct if you require clarification.

What do I need to bring?

For Reformer classes grip socks are excellent (message me for any recommendations) and for Mat classes please bring a suitable mat. Most people bring a bottle of water too, oh, and I'd prefer mobile's were left in your vehicle, or switched off before starting a session.

What else do you offer?

Watch this space. I am working on integrating the booking system directly onto my website and I'll be launching a blog soon with wellness tips, maybe some merchandise too. I am also planning some Pilates Retreats and in the summer I teach Paddleboard Pilates on the lake, so stay tuned!

Any discounts or offers?

Are you insured?

Yes, your safety is my priority. I am fully qualified and hold full public liability insurance. If you would like to view my certifications, insurance documents or Health & Safety policies, these are all available on request.
